Columbia's Coffee Cafes: Drip

Day 4: Drip

Today, I tried Drip located at 729 Saluda Avenue.

Coffee Selection

I chose to try a medium Smoked Salted Caramel Latte with standard whole milk as an iced version with no whipped cream. This came out to be a total of $5.39.

Ratings

Taste- 7/10

This latte had a very enjoyable ratio of sweetness to bitterness as well as a great milk to coffee ratio. I really enjoy the true espresso flavors at Drip. It might be my favorite true espresso flavoring. However, today this latte was lacking some caramel flavor, and while it was still a delicious latte, I wish there was a little more flavor to it. I have been here previous times and have had better, so maybe I was expecting more.

Atmosphere- 8/10

Drip has a very quaint atmosphere! It is designed on the more antique side, but they have a beautiful room with records and a beautiful wood coffee bar area. I also really enjoyed that they serve you in true glassware if you decide to stay there! It is a great study atmosphere for me, but I could also see it being not everyone's vibe. Everything was clean and well-kept!

Affordability- 7/10

$5.39 is a great price for a latte; however it was on the smaller side compared to other mediums I have gotten in the past from other shops, so I do not believe it would be fair judgment to rank this coffee super well. This being said, it served its purpose and I do not believe a large one would have costed that much more.

Overall- 7.3/10

This truly is one of my favorite Columbia classics. The espresso flavor here is really unbeatable as far as I have found,  and I believe it to be a local gem. I would say it is worth a stop if you are in town!
